Cowans Gap State Park, nestled in Fulton and Franklin counties, spans 1,085 acres and offers a full campground with 224 sites suitable for tents and RVs (up to 20‑amp electric). Open mid‑April to mid‑December, the campground features modern restrooms, hot showers, potable water, fire rings, and picnic tables. Group camping areas are also available, and pets are allowed on leash.
There are 10 rustic cabins built by the CCC, equipped with stoves, refrigerators, fireplaces, and bunks. An onsite sanitary dump station and laundry tubs are provided. The park’s recreation includes a 42‑acre lake with a swimming beach and boat ramp, extensive picnic facilities, and 10 miles of hiking and, in winter, cross‑country skiing. Boating, fishing, hunting, and ice‑skating are popular seasonal activities. No long‑term rates are offered, and connectivity is limited to paid Wi‑Fi at the office. Its natural setting makes Cowans Gap ideal for families, outdoor adventurers, and those seeking state‑park tranquility with essential amenities.
