Nestled along a tranquil reef‑front near Lahaina on West Maui, Camp Olowalu is a privately owned campground with 35 well‑spaced, gravel parking sites for vehicles, campervans, or tents. Sites are set beneath lush tropical and fruit tree canopies and include a picnic table, fire pit, and access to potable water. Shared restroom facilities offer flush toilets, private stalls, mirrors, lighting, and instant hot‑water showers. There’s a dish‑washing station, BBQ grills, trash & recycling stations, and two charging stations. A free Wi‑Fi hotspot is available at the check‑in area. Snorkel and kayak rentals allow guests to explore the healthy coral reef offshore. Camp Olowalu has a peaceful, nature‑immersive vibe and hosts whale‑watching during winter months. Reservations are required; rates are $30 per adult, $10 per child (age 9–17), free under 9. Pets are permitted with a small fee. There is a 14‑night limit per stay with a 30‑day booking gap between visits. Dump stations, hookups, and long‑term discounts are not provided this is primitive camping with upgraded conveniences. Open year‑round, the site draws folks appreciative of natural shoreline beauty and basic yet comfortable camping amenities.

I recently stayed at this camp, and it was awesome! The location is perfect. I loved my tentalow — it felt wild and cozy at the same time. The outdoor bathroom was a real highlight, especially showering with a view of the mango tree. The nature around is incredible — the night sky full of stars, the sound of ocean waves, and of course, the roosters singing in the morning added a special charm to the experience. It was truly unforgettable, and I will definitely come back again!

Second visit here. We stayed in a tentalow! Very nice and very clean. You have your own shower, sink, cooler, fresh towels and sheets. The toilet is shared with only 2 other tentalows and the beach nearby if wonderful!

During my week-long stay at Camp Olowalu, I felt an amazing atmosphere. The guests were very kind and peaceful—no one played loud music or behaved noisily. The campground is exceptionally clean and well-maintained, and the staff is extremely friendly. A big advantage is the warm water showers. To those frustrated by crowing roosters, I suggest staying in a hotel instead of struggling at a campground. Thank you to the wonderful staff, and see you next time!

Gem of a place. We loved our tentalo stay. Hot showers, clean toilets. Some critical feedback for the owner/managers: – the tentalo could use more hooks inside to hang items as the space is limited – an outlet in the tentalo would be a great addition. I didn’t like leaving my phone to charge at the charge bank station. I recognize the solar power is limited, but even something that only worked at night to charge our phones overnight would be a huge improvement. Overall, I’d highly recommend staying here. It seems to be a local favourite.

A welcoming and clean campground in a gorgeous landscape. We stayed three nights and enjoyed a lovely tent site close to the beach. Sites are small and sandy, bordered by small trees and containing a picnic table. Washrooms and showers are nice and clean. Roosters wake you right before dawn which was a surprise but also perfect timing to watch the sunrise from the beach. We stayed at a time when the camp was fully occupied but the other campers were friendly and quiet. Would absolutely return.
