Open May 1 through October 19, Rio Chama RV Park perches along the scenic Rio Chama River under towering cottonwoods. With full 20/30/50 amp hookups, water, sewer, and gravel/mixed pads, it accommodates big rigs and seasonal travelers. Sites include picnic tables, fire rings, pull-through options, and access to a fenced dog park perfect for pet owners. Campers enjoy access to restrooms, hot showers, laundry, a dump station, trash, and Wi-Fi. A riverside pavilion hosts social events like bingo and provides a lovely gathering spot. The park’s prime location offers direct river access, scenic hiking trails, and daily views of the Cumbres & Toltec railroad, making this spot a destination in itself. Nearby guests can kayak or fish in the Rio Chama, explore forest trails, or enjoy small-town hospitality in Chama. Hosts are noted for their friendly service and well-maintained grounds. Staff is very friendly and helpful

Staff is very friendly and helpful. The 1 bathroom was mostly clean, water hot but crowded at times. But the mosquitoes were absolutely horrible. Not much fun camping when you can’t sit outside.

Beautiful location, especially with peak fall foliage

Beautiful location, especially with peak fall foliage. I’d suggest snagging a spot on the river if it’s available. We were only passing through and it was the end of the season, so pretty chill. Only minor beef is that the public restrooms were closed, yet they were still charging full price.

Great rv park! Lots of trees, right on the river and great views of the Cumbres and Toltec RR daily trains. Super nice long term residents A group meets in the outdoor pavilion to do impromptu music in the afternoons. They allowed my husband to use an instrument since he hadn’t brought his own. Will definitely be back again!!

Summer 2020 – lots of big trees, friendly staff

Summer 2020 – lots of big trees, friendly staff. It is nice and cool at this elevation. The Cumbres and Toltec train runs over a steel bridge right next to the park. IMO the park needs a little work – many of the spots could use a little more gravel and trees & bushes could use some trimming. We enjoyed our time there except it rained often and our spot was in one of the spots in 2 rows that are packed rather close together (our living room slide was about 2 feet from the neighbor’s awning). Oddly, it appeared to me that they seemed to keep those 2 rows full most of the time and rows with a more room between spots were less occupied. The park is quiet and shady with very few amenities. The park is dog friendly. There were lots of dogs around the park. We would stay there again. Next time we visit, we would request a spot with more room.

There were 8 of us + 1 dog and our oldest camper is 88! I highly recommend this location.

Dale and his staff at this RV park have done a great job of combining Camping with a handful of amenities: (ice cream, bagged Ice, showers [no fee with paid camp site] running toilets and a community room for Bingo and root beer floats) that we really enjoyed. There were 8 of us + 1 dog and our oldest camper is 88! I highly recommend this location.

So nice and helpful. They keep it so clean and there is a dog park here also. They sell ice cream in the office too . We had an up front view of the Cumbres and Toltec train from our spot going right over the river.
