Newport RV Park

Stayed here with my family from Saturday July 13th-Thursday July 18th 2024. Checked in at about 1:06pm. This was Melville Pond RV Park, but then switched hands to Newport RV park. Check in process was easy, However, we did have to move sites from 426 to 431 because we didn’t fit. We also couldn’t take out any tables or chairs had we stayed in spot 426. We have a long 5th wheel trailer with slides so, we need like lots of room. Luckily called the office and was able to switch spots. That seemed to work, and we had more room to set up our table and chairs. Once we completed set up, we tried to set up the tvs. For some reason, if you have a roku tv, don’t expect it to connect to the internet, at least from the site we stayed at. Failed to connect several times, and we had to constantly rescan the tv channels because of all 78 channels only a few were coming in clearly. I found things to watch on my own, with the channels that came in properly like history. Anyways, campground was very quiet, and even with a nearby town dog park, it was pretty good, and quiet. Close to newport and about 30 minutes to Province. Overall enjoyed our stay.

Great location for visiting Newport or Providence, with TONS of sites and good segmentation/separation. We got lucky for most of our stay that we had no neighbors next to us, although the couple of times we did, things got a little tight. Great grass for the pups, even in the site, and the grounds are maintained well. I reserve my 5 star reviews for only the best of the best where I can’t think of anything to improve, but this is a solid 4 star. Some improvements that would bring this to 5 stars would be adding dog waste stations throughout the park. At present there are NONE, so it’s a hike to the dumpster carrying poop when you take the dogs out. Additionally, concrete pads would make the expense more palatable, and a trash pickup service or trashcans throughout the park would provide more value and/or service. Not many amenities to speak of beyond the playground, but we don’t have kids. The park “shares” a dog park with the city which is no further of a walk than most “on property” dog parks, and it is probably the best dog park we have come across in our travels yet. We would absolutely stay here again, and plan to so we can check out more of the area. We camped at Newport RV Park in a Motorhome.

Great campground, very quiet and peaceful. Large space for our 43ft fifth wheel. Close to areas we wanted to visit. Cliff walks, downtown Newport and the wharf.

We rented the “house” AIRBNB (it’s a double wide)…honestly, it was very clean…smelled a little musty, but tolerable. A little overpriced for what you got, but maybe that’s just me. Overall, the experience was adequate and met our needs.

I visited this place for a weekend getaway from Boston. Because we don’t have camping equipment, we chose to stay in one of their custom-renovated Airstreams; which was the perfect blend of camping authenticity, along with the modern conveniences that made the weekend feel so fun and enjoyable. I have already rebooked to stay at Newport RV Park later this summer!

It is more like a 3.5 stars. The staff is amazing and friendly. They have a variety of site choices. You can be surrounded by trees or in the wide open. The sites are nice and level. They have a small playground but that’s about it. There is the biggest dog park I’ve ever seen just down the street… your dog will love it. It belongs to the city. They have a big pavilion with picnic tables. Something I wasn’t expecting was the low price for doing laundry… only $3.50 to wash and dry!! It is pricey considering there isn’t much in the way of amenities.
