Chief Hosa Campground

Decent little campground. Did not stay here, but a friend did. Mostly quiet. Not far from Red Rocks if you want to camp after a show. They said the bathhouse shower is coin operated.

I just remembered something that happened when I stayed here in June that was probably worth sharing. I only stayed for one night, but while I was there, a man who was checking out the campground stopped at my site, to look at the hookups. I am a single female traveler, and this man did not check in with the front when he came in, he just drove around and stopped at my site to talk to me and look at the hook up box. It was kind of strange and it immediately caught the attention of the park hosts / ranger that was at the front, and he immediately jumped on his golf cart and raced over to inquire why he was doing what he was doing and politely asked him not to enter again without coming to the ranger station first. I wish I remembered the gentleman’s name, but I just remembered this and was thankful he was there and was paying attention. It’s nice to know people are looking out for you as a solo female camper and that goes a long way. He was a kind, black gentleman, if that narrows it down. Thankful for you, guy. So overall a good experience. – :-)

No campfires permitted. Very nice bathrooms. Very close to Denver.

Camped at Chief Hosa the night before the Triple Bypass bike ride. It was close to the start so I committed to booking a campsite. Campsites are close to one another and you hear the roar of I-70 traffic all night long. The coin operated showers provided hot water and the bathrooms were clean. If peace and quiet is your thing, seek elsewhere. Did see several deer roaming around 👍.

Clean bathrooms and very warm showers. Nice safe campground for RVs, pop ups, vans and a section solely for tents. There is a park ranger on site. Up the ridge about a mile away, bison can be observed at times.

Clean and nice, but awful road noise. You’re ~ 1/4 mile from the I-70, so constantly hearing sirens, semi trailers gearing down and braking, and motorcycles revving their engines. Highly recommend bringing earplugs. Great campsite for groups, multiple RV hookups, a couple of short hikes close by, and you can easily see the local Bison Herd. Came with a group of Cub Scouts, and they all had an absolute blast. Lots of fresh running water, flushable toilets, and even coin operated showers. 25 cents gets you 2 minutes of hot water. This would easily be a five-star review if it was not so close to the freeway.
